Kinks, Curls, and Coils

Welcome kinky, curly, and coily girlies! 

I wasn't always a natural hair girl. I remember as a young girl begging my mom for a relaxer because, well, that's what everyone else was doing. Right? I can't remember how young I was, but I was definitely still in grade school. I loved how soft and more manageable my hair was after getting the relaxer. I hated how thin it became. As a young girl, I became victim to my surroundings and wanting to fit in. I thought if my hair was long and silky, I would make friends and not be the odd one out. I did not know how much damage it would actually cause. 

The Big Chop!!

It wasn't until I was 30 years old when I decided to grow my roots out and do the big chop. YES! I cut off all the relaxed hair and let my natural curls grow out. Again, I was with the WOKE movement. The whole be your natural self. Even Alicia Keys stopped wearing make-up. We started seeing more natural curls on TV as actresses took the straight hair wigs off and said let my scalp breeeeeath!!! Whuuu....

Now What?? 

Now I have this little afro and I really don't know what to do with it. I've spent most of my life with relaxed hair, I don't even have the proper combs at home for my natural hair. Do I use the same shampoos and conditioner? How do I make my hair not look dry all the time? Is this how it should look? What natural styles look best on me? I had so much to learn. 

This mindset led me to start building my website because if I'm conflicted, there must be others with the same issue. Why not make a safe space for us to all learn and get more guidance.

My website, Nat's Beauty Boutique, is haircare for natural women. Here you will find hair extensions to best match your curl pattern. Hair products that work well with our hair. Now, let's not forget that when it comes to hair products, what works for some may not work for you. This is trial and error for us all. But once you find what works for you, empty the shelves girl! lol ... Soon we will offer lashes, skincare, and wellness products. My focus now is natural haircare. Stay tuned for more blogs and vlogs.
